We recommend that IB and A-level students who are in the top 5% of their class consider taking AP exams. By boosting your academic rigor, AP exams can help you stand out in an ultra competitive applicant pool. It also demonstrates passion and intellectual vitality for your chosen subject.
Essentially, AP Tests are a standardized way of validating your subject-specific knowledge. Achieving a 4 or 5 on your AP exam significantly boosts your academic rigor and bolsters your academic profile. You can earn college credits for high AP Test scores and place out of introductory classes. If you take 4-5 AP courses, you can potentially graduate earlier - saving time and money.
Students studying Indian boards that are aiming for top 30 universities should take AP exams. Indian boards are often not perceived as rigorous enough as IB; taking AP exams in addition to ISC/HSC makes the scales even. Admissions officers who are not familiar with Indian boards find AP scores reliable indicators of academic preparedness.
AP exams are only offered in May.
